Workshop in room E026 / ground-floor

Aim of the workshop

This workshop is intended to provide an introduction to karst modeling techniques. Two main aspects will be covered: the simulation of karst network geometries when they are unknown; and the simulation of flow and transport in those systems.

Schedule

9h-10h30 / An introduction to stochastic techniques allowing to model karst network geometry : Multiple-point statistics and pseudo-genetic approaches.

10h30- 10h45 / Coffee break

10h45 – 12h / Practical exercises

12h – 13h / Lunch

13h – 14h / Modeling of flow and transport in karstic environments with FEFLOW

14h00- 15h00 / Practical exercises

15h00- 15h15 / Coffee break

15h15 – 16h30 / Practical exercises

Target audience

Professionals and doctoral students.  Participants are expected to have some familiarity with modeling concepts and methods. Basic knowledge of matlab and feflow is a plus.
